iiCoCo Fridays every Friday, Launching this Friday, July 21

iiCoCo, the International Interactive Composers Collaborative, is evolving our conversations about how to be a composer in the world into a quadrented developmental series to help composers be composers. Howard will be present from 11 to 1, but composers may drop in and out for the sections that are relevant to them and are not expected to be present for the entire 2 hours. We will begin doing this using Zoom but expect to transition to a better platform by September.

11 to 11:30 Talk Talk

iiCoCo teaches topics like What is Sound? What is Production? What is a Sound File? What is a DAW Digital Audio Workstation? What are Plugins, and how do they work? We answer technical questions for composers from a composer’s perspective.

11:30 to 12:00 Soul Talk

iiCoCo hosts an open and supportive conversation about how to be a composer in the world from emotional, psychological and artistic perspectives.

12:00 to 12:30 High Noon NSW Concert

Every Friday, there is a live-streamed performance of several composers’ new short works. Up to six composers can have five minutes to present whatever they want to, with or without feedback. It is their choice. Live Performances are encouraged as this is a concert, but some composers are creating videos with original music, and some may present recordings on their way to live performances. It would be nice to get to the point where there were always a few premiers of new works, and they were all under five minutes. If this section needs to eventually grow to be an hour long from 12 to 1, that is also fine, and then there can be—a short break followed by the fourth section.

High Noon New York Time is a very easy-to-remember time for everyone in the world and is 9 AM in California, and between 4 and 10 Friday covers most of Europe, Africa and the Middle East. Hawaii and Asia are kind of out of bounds, but they can stream our reruns while we are all sleeping.

12:30 to 1:00 Review, Analysis and Planning

A great deal of learning can occur looking through the rearview window after performances as we are not entirely conscious of what happened while doing it. We must also plan our upcoming streamed and live concerts and the infrastructure to deliver them.
