iiCoCo (International Interactive Composers Collective) presented its inaugural salon as an informal gathering of international composers, performers and artists presenting new work. iiCoCo concerts will include multiple genres -from contemporary classical to rock to electronic, and visual art, for in-person and streaming audiences.

iiCoCo is a group of international creative outliers in the arts that started with a core group of composers from Juilliard. The salon will feature Nina Colosi, Ben Davel, Maretha Davel, Carolyn Lieberman, Howard Lieberman, Ray Lustig and the Manicburg band, Yina Ma, Robert O’Connor, Lance Phillip, Luigi Porto, Patrick Suter, and Dan Yurkofsky.

iiCoCo was founded to discover, explore, and integrate new business models and platforms for artists to deliver their works. It looks to the evolving technological tools including AI, that provide new ways to expand the creative process and experience the arts.

What is an Expression Salon Concert? It is a combination of a performance and a party, which also includes potluck food. Primarily, it is an opportunity for expressive artists to show up and express themselves. The upcoming expression salon concert will consist of musical performances, multimedia, projected presentations, and conventional painting artwork on the walls. The expressive individuals coming together formed a group called the International Interactive Composers Collaborative, or iiCoCo.

We have been attempting to come together for a concert for a couple of years, and in the process, we discovered that it was not a formal conventional concert we were after but an expression salon. This is the 21st-century equivalent of what happened in Paris at the beginning of the last century, updated by mixed media technology, including streaming and sound reinforcement.

We hope this event can function as a prototype for a continuing series that occurs in multiple locations around the globe, as we are an international group. Furthermore, as I kick off my Concert and KeyNoter engagements, I plan to subsidize this activity several times yearly. There is no reason this cannot scale from house concerts to church concerts to art gallery concerts. Please think of this as a pop-up salon and an outgrowth of the monthly studio night hosted by Ray Lustig for the last few years.
