International Interactive Composers Collaborative

Being a composer in the 21st century presents unique challenges, with one of the biggest being the opportunity to have their music heard. It is helpful to have a composer’s flywheel where composers from around the world support each other in their creative process. Composers often invent new musical performance venues. iiCoCo, the International Interactive Composers Collaborative, is evolving our conversations about how to be a composer in the world into a developmental series to help composers be composers.

We started as a group of composers who met while studying composition at the Juilliard School in New York City. Current hybrid approaches to music transcend traditional genre boundaries and how music is heard. Concerts now range from through-composed to improvised and in-person to streaming performances. New business models for the arts are coming into being. Composers now have new interactivity and collaboration options. iiCoCo was founded to discover, explore, and integrate these new dimensions and evolve new business models for the arts to support composers in delivering their works.
